AE, Noisuf-X, Ian Fford, free VNV poster, Smiths - more news
First off, some Nocturne news. Our resident Groove Garden DJ will be taking a much-needed siesta on July 1st and 8th, so we're bringing in some special guests to keep the new wave/80s/pop vibe happening out there. On July 1st, DJ Jennifer will be behind the tables, and on July 8th, we're very pleased to welcome back original Nocturne 80s room wizard Ian Fford, all the way from NYC. As always, DJ Knobhead rocks the main floor and Jon Gill keeps the Velvet Underground as cool as a frosty beverage. Speaking of cool, don't forget our upcoming Smiths tribute night at Nocturne on July 22nd. More details to come. Don't forget that the two-day Power Strip festival is coming up FAST! Friday night, July 10th, features the very first ever concert by Leaether Strip in the USA, as well as performances by Philly's own Vicious Alliance and old-school Neubauten-style industrial group Babyland. Saturday, Leaether Strip returns with a new set list, joined by Philadelphia group Cesium 137 and Germany's Noisuf-X ("Hit Me Hard and Hit Me Fast") who are performing in the US for the first time that weekend. Both shows take place at the Trocadero. DJ Knobhead spins on Friday, DJ Octo-Pussy rocks the tables Saturday. The shows are all ages, although Friday night's afterparty in the Balcony Bar with DJ Mighty Mike Saga is 21+. Tickets are $25 per night, available through Ticketmaster, IsoTank or Digital Ferret Finally, if you haven't yet picked up a copy of the new VNV Nation CD, "Of Faith, Power & Glory," you can get it at Digital Ferret and receive a gorgeous full color 11x17 VNV Nation poster FREE with purchase. Just visit the store at 732 S. 4th St. or call 215-925-9259 for details. Tickets for the next Dracula's Ball event on September 5th, featuring Project Pitchfork and Carfax Abbey, are on sale now. Drac's Ball ticket update
The next Dracula's Ball event takes place this Saturday, May 23rd. If you want to receive advance tickets by mail, the deadline to place your order with IsoTank is noon (Eastern time) on Tuesday May 19th (tomorrow). Don't forget that IsoTank offers free UPS Ground shipping on orders of five or more tickets. If you miss the deadline, you can still get advance tickets in person from a Ticketmaster outlet or from Digital Ferret CDs (215-925-9259). If you want an advance ticket but can't get to a Ticketmaster outlet or Digital Ferret, you can order them from IsoTank.com and select "Hold for pickup at Digital Ferret" as your "shipping" method. The tickets will be held for you at Digital Ferret (NOT at Shampoo!) and you can pick them whenever the store is open (this includes on the day of the Ball itself, from noon until 10pm). If advance tickets just aren't in the cards for you this time, don't worry. We expect that admission will be easily available at the door ($17). Advance tickets are cheaper and will get you through the door first, of course. If we start to run low on admission at the door, we'll update our ticket info line immediately (215-477-5161). We'll see you on Saturday. Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: Project Pitchfork - Dreams, Tiresias | | Monday, May 11th, 2009 | | 3:31 pm |

Ticket, lineup info for Dracula's Ball this Saturday
As we mentioned in our last bulletin, we're sad that our friends Unheilig will not be able to join us for the Ball as originally planned. Late yesterday, we received news that the US Embassy in Germany had not processed the band's paperwork in a timely manner and did not return the band's passports to them in time to make their scheduled flight. Unheilig was very disappointed by the bureaucratic snafu and was very excited to come and play their first US show with us and all of you. Since the US government promises that their papers will all be finished by Monday (grrrrr....) we're working to schedule a make-up date with Unheilig later in the year. **If your plans to attend the Ball on the 21st have changed because Unheilig is not joining us, please contact us at concierge (at) draculasball.com before tomorrow** So our performance schedule of course is slightly different. The Azoic will perform at midnight, and appearing at 10:30pm will be The Drowning Season. See below for more information on them. Also, as previously mentioned, there will be a film crew on hand at this event. They're putting together a series of mini-documentaries on vampires which will air on Comcast later this year. We've met the filmmakers and find them to be a fun bunch of guys, so we encourage you to seek them out and say hi. They're interested in hearing from anyone who loves vampires (and especially from anyone who -is- a vampire). Tickets for the March 21st Dracula's Ball can still be purchased in-person from Digital Ferret CDs (215-925-9259) or at Ticketmaster retail outlets. Digital Ferret is expected to run out of advance tickets sometime today, but don't worry because... Admission will be available at the door for this event! If we run out of tickets later in the evening after the event has started, we'll update our ticket info line at 215-477-5161, but at present time we do not anticipate this happening. Advance ticketholders enter first, and then the walk-up line is open. Admission at the door is $17. DJs Mama C and Hardware make their first Ball appearances at this event, and we welcome back DJ Draven for a return appearance. We'll have three rooms open for your dancing pleasure, all night long. If you have questions about where or how to buy or pick up tickets, please visit the FAQ on our website Our venue as once again our haunt of choice, Shampoo Nightclub, located at 7th & Willow Streets in Philadelphia, PA (Mapquest/Google Maps info can be found on our website). As always, the Ball is open to all ages, but you must be 21+ with proper photo ID to drink. There is a large, free, enclosed parking lot, but it fills up quick for the Ball. Personal photo cameras are welcome. Large professional rigs with unpleasant flash bulbs are not. Video cameras are not allowed. Doors open at 9pm and the Ball ends at 2am. So let's talk a little bit more about our performers. THE DROWNING SEASON: Don't get us wrong, we love electronics as much as the next person, but we're always happy to see a band carrying the torch of good, old-school, dark ROCK music. The Drowning Season carries on in the proud tradition of The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission and Fields of the Nephilim. They've just released their new album, Curse, and they're very excited about making their first appearance at Dracula's Ball. STAGE TIME - 10:35PM http://www.myspace.com/thedrowningseasonTHE AZOIC: We're very pleased to welcome The Azoic back to the Ball. They are a female fronted Electronic Dance / Industrial EBM band originally based in Columbus, Ohio back in 1996. Today, they have a number of albums to their credit, numerous compilation appearances, and Azoic singer Kristy has contributed guest vocals to several well-known projects. The Azoic bucks the current trend of computerizing or distorting female vocals, so you'll hear Kristy's actual voice as a human female, and not what she'd sound like if she were a cyborg. Put your dancin' shoes on for this. STAGE TIME - 12:05AM http://www.myspace.com/theazoicSee you on Saturday! Current Mood: busy | | Thursday, March 19th, 2009 | | 6:54 pm |
Lineup change this Saturday
Dear Friends and Fiends, We received a message from Unheilig's booking agency in Germany a few hours ago, informing us that the US Embassy was late in processing the band's visa paperwork, even though the booking agency submitted it in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, because the Embassy physically places the visa stamp inside an applicant's passport, this means that the band's passports are being held at the Embassy and cannot be returned to them in time for them to board their flight tomorrow. We've spent the last few hours with some of our contacts at the German Embassy here in the US, but the band is, despite all of their best efforts, trapped in the system at the moment. By the time the passports are returned on Monday, it will obviously be too late. Unheilig is very unhappy about missing their first opportunity to come to the US to play for their many fans here, and they were particularly excited about making their debut at a Dracula's Ball. We're also bummed out because we've seen their show and we knew it would be perfect for a Ball. Right now we're making arrangements to secure a second band to perform along with The Azoic at this Saturday's event. However, we know that some of you are planning to travel from out of the area into Philly and wanted you to have this news as soon as possible. For those of you who are hardcore Unheilig fans, we hope you'll consider visiting our great city and attending the Ball anyway. It is well worth the trip. If you already have tickets to the Ball but you decide that you're not going to travel to Philly to join us, please email us at concierge (at) draculasball.com before this Saturday. There will be another update as soon as we've confirmed our second band. We apologize for the inconvenience but we're working hard to make sure you'll all have a blast this Saturday.
