January 16th DRACULA'S BALL! w/ BLACK TAPE FOR A BLUE GIRL, I:SCINTILLA, VNV, & COMBICHRIST! DRACULA'S BALL! w/ Black Tape For A Blue Girl (featuring Athan Maroulis of Spahn Ranch & Nicki Jaine), I:Scintilla, DJ's Mark Jackson from VNV Nation & Joe Letz of Combichrist! We know - that's a lot of band names in one subject line. But we also know it's hard for some people to think about an event that "isn't until next year" - even though it's only six weeks away. So we're pulling out all the stops to grab your attention now, so that you can mark your calendars, buy your tickets, and return your thoughts to the usual end-of-year holiday chaos. Our next Dracula's Ball event is on Saturday, January 16th, 2010. We have quite an array of talented performers joining us for this event. Tickets for the Ball are $15 and are on sale now through the usual outlets (see below). BLACK TAPE FOR A BLUE GIRL: As one of the flagship bands of the Projekt record label, BTFABG was at the center of the "Heavenly Voices" style of swirly, ethereal music. With their most recent album, 10 Neurotics, Black Tape has branched out considerably, exploring more of the cabaret influences apparent in their recent work and adopting an earthier style. Spahn Ranch vocalist Athan Maroulis and eclectic soloist Nicki Jaine are part of both the studio album and the live show, helping Black Tape visionary Sam Rosenthal take the band into exciting new territory. STAGE TIME - 10:35pm http://www.myspace.com/blacktapeforabluegirlI SCINTILLA: What's better than being able to rock out and dance at the same time? I:Scintilla gives you the opportunity to do both. Fans of electro-rock with catchy hooks and female vocals (like, say, Garbage, Collide or The Birthday Massacre) will surely enjoy this Chicago group's first Dracula's Ball performance. I:Scintilla just released a new EP, Prey on You, in November. They also have an exclusive new track on the Metropolis cancer benefit album, Electronic Saviors. Expect a performance that will be...(dare we say it?) scintillating! STAGE TIME - 12:05am http://www.myspace.com/iscintillaFor this Ball, we're very pleased to welcome Mark Jackson of VNV Nation and Joe Letz of Combichrist as our DJs on the Main Floor. Mark and Joe have toured all over the world with their bands and have amassed impressive music collections in the process. They look forward to playing some of your favorite tracks and introducing you to some of their favorites as well. In the White Room and the Velvet Underground, we are pleased to welcome back DJ Solaries from Washington DC, and Philadelphia's DJ Dave Ghoul. 4 DJs, 3 dancefloors, all night! Tickets are $15.00 and are on sale now through IsoTank.com, Digital Ferret CDs, Ticketmaster retail outlets and Ticketmaster.com. Admission at the door, if available, will be $17. When doors open, people with tickets are admitted first, so having tickets in advance is not only cheaper, but more convenient as well. Direct links to purchasing tickets are here: (IsoTank) http://www2.mailordercentral.com/isotank/prodinfo.asp?number=36445-0(Ticketmaster) http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/02004370A7B584A2?artistid=835478&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=60Remember that there may be service charges when purchasing from Ticketmaster. IsoTank offers free shipping on orders of 5 or more tickets. If you have questions about where or how to buy or pick up tickets, please visit the FAQ on our website. In fact, visit the FAQ on our site anyway. This Ball takes place in our favorite location, Shampoo Nightclub, at 7th & Willow Streets in Philadelphia, PA (Mapquest/Google Maps info can be found on our website). As always, the Ball is open to all ages, but you must be 21+ with proper photo ID to drink. There is a large, free, enclosed parking lot, but it fills up quick for the Ball. Personal photo cameras are welcome. Large professional camera rigs with unpleasant flash bulbs are not. Video cameras are not allowed. Doors open at 9pm and our event ends at 2am. Finally, photos from our Halloween event have been posted on our website. As always, we're amazed by all of the fantastic and elaborate costumes. Thanks for making our event such an exciting place to be! We'll be in touch again to make sure this event doesn't slip your mind during the upcoming holidays. January 16th will be here before you know it. Best wishes, [Patrick] & DB Staff | | Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 | | 4:17 pm |
Nocturne TONIGHT
Hey folks, A few important Nocturne schedule notes: 1) TONIGHT (the night before Thanksgiving) is always our busiest Nocturne of the year. This is the Nocturne that -everyone- comes out for, so it's a great time to catch up to people you haven't seen in a long time. Our rent goes up for the evening so it's slightly more expensive ($10 cover) but well worth it. This night only comes once a year, so don't miss it! 2) Winter holidays do not affect our schedule this year - we will be open on December 23rd and 30th as normal. 3) Since a number of people have asked, New Year's Eve does not fall on a Wednesday this year, so we don't have anything planned for that night. We're excited about rounding out our 13th year and we're already looking forward to starting our fourteenth year of Nocturne in a few months. Our free parking lot is open tonight as always, but it does fill up quickly, so arrive on the earlier side of things to be sure you get a spot. See you tonight! This Weds., last chance for free passes to Sept. 30th Nocturne
Last year we thought it would be fun to show our appreciation for your many years of support by inviting you and some of your best friends to attend Nocturne free as our guests. Our VIP Night party was insanely fun and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many new people. Of course, we have to do it again this year. Our second annual VIP Night will take place on September 30th, 2009 at Nocturne. We like to say that our regular customers are our best advertising: you have fun, you tell people about it, you even bring them out to experience Nocturne for the first time. Since that's worked so well, we thought this would be a great way to thank you for doing so, as well as a great way to encourage you to keep up the good work. So, here's the deal: Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 will be VIP Night at Nocturne. Anyone with a VIP pass will be admitted for free. For those without a VIP pass, the regular $7 cover charge will apply. So who are the Very Important People? You. In fact, you are so important, we'll even accommodate your whole entourage. Seriously. On September 23rd, when you attend Nocturne, we will give you two VIP passes to attend the VIP Night on September 30th. That's one for you, and one for a friend. We've been giving them out for the past 3 Wednesday nights as well. Clever readers will be thinking, "Ah, if I attended on all four of those weeks, I could have accumulated eight passes." Exactly as we intended. If you're supporting us enough that you're at Nocturne four weeks in a row, we're happy to have you and seven of your friends as our guests on VIP night. If you've ever wanted to roll into a club with your whole crew and get in for free, this is your chance. This is also the perfect economic stimulus package for any of your friends that might be low on cash flow but in serious need of a good time. And don't forget that hottie you've been noticing around town (you know, the one you have those great but short conversations with). After all, everyone loves free passes, and you'll have a few extra to give out to deserving people. If there's someone you've always wanted to hang out with in a more relaxed setting, here's your chance. As always, all ages are welcome at Nocturne. If you're over 21, rest assured that the usual 9pm-11pm $3 drink special will still be in place on VIP Night. Parking in our large fenced-in lot will be free as usual. Nocturne takes place every Wednesday night at Shampoo Nightclub, 7th & Willow, Philadelphia, from 9pm-2am. If you can't make it out to VIP Night, do remember that as our guests, you're all very important, including the other fifty-one Wednesday nights of the year. This is just our way of showing it. We hope you and your friends have a great night with us. Current Mood: workingCurrent Music: Information Society - Modulator | | Saturday, September 5th, 2009 | | 1:15 pm |
Project Pitchfork: see them tonight, meet them tomorrow
There are still some advance tickets remaining for Dracula's Ball TONIGHT. You can still pick up tickets in person at Digital Ferret CDs or at Ticketmaster outlets. Also, admission at the door will be available ($18) although we recommend arriving earlier rather than later. If you're waiting 'til the last minute, you can always check ticket availability by calling our ticket information line at 215-477-5161. If we run out of tickets after doors open, we'll update this recording promptly. Fans of Project Pitchfork will be excited to hear that not only will they get to see the band perform an amazing 90 minute set at the Ball on Saturday, but they'll have a rare opportunity to meet the band on Sunday as well. Project Pitchfork will be meeting fans and signing autographs at Digital Ferret CDs on Sunday the 6th, starting at 3pm and ending at 4pm. Digital Ferret is located at 732 S. 4th St. in Philadelphia - call 215-925-9259 for details.EDIT: We're very sorry to report that Project Pitchfork won't be able to do the signing at Digital Ferret. :( Don't forget that we're opening an hour earlier than usual tonight - 8pm instead of the usual 9pm. That also means that our free parking lot will be fill up a little earlier as well, so plan accordingly. All of the other details about the Ball can be found on our website ( http://www.draculasball.com) and our MySpace page. See you this evening. 4th FRIDAY EVENT SERIES AUGUST 28th
This is seriously one of the best 4th events that we have ever hosted. Extremely solid line up all around. We are honored to have every one of these participants be a part of this event. The Nachtmahr/ Alter Der Ruine/ Mike Wolhberg / DJ Mighty Mike Saga + DJ Totentanz was insane last month and we have had nothing but great feedback about how fun it was. This will be equally as intense, if not more so. Flyer by Paul Romano Prometheus Burning is one of the best live industrial acts around today and they are driving from Pittsburgh to play this one show! Their new CD, "Plague Called Humanity"is an amazing album, and it sounds even better in their live assault! Rise of Because is Mike from Rosetta's side band and one of our favorite newer noise bands. In our opinion, "Punishment Room" is one of the best industrial noise albums that has come out in the past year. Paul Romano is a world renowned artist responsible for the covers of Mastodon and many, many more. He is creating some very special paintings for this show. Johanna Constantine DJs all over the world and currently in-between tours with Antony and The Johnsons, where she opens for them performing her theatrical art. Limited edition commemorative silk screen posters, designed by Paul Romano, will be available at the show! Current Mood: dorky | | Monday, August 17th, 2009 | | 10:35 am |
